A comprehensive guide to local organic and sustainably grown food, services and products in Massachusetts and beyond. A project of NOFA/Mass.
Laughing Dog Farm is a five-acre, permaculture-inspired, market garden and diversified homestead in rural Franklin County. Laughing Dog not only provides healthy sustenance for local consumers, but also year-round learning opportunities and inspiration for aspiring farmers and gardeners of many stripes. Farmer, educator and activist Daniel Botkin is an avid organic gardener and micro-farmer who recognizes the timeliness of ultra-productive, four-season, permaculture-style food gardens in our current and future food equation. Daniel left a 20+ year career teaching and counseling to steward and develop Laughing Dog Farm on a lovely and historic hilltop, once the site of a well-known commune. With the help of seasonal volunteers, Daniel and his family have operated a small CSA and sold gourmet produce, flowers and seeds at the local farmers market. They mentor on-farm interns and teach classes on goat husbandry, hoop-houses, winter growing, seed saving and essential food processing. Our products are available through our website.
Laughing Dog Farm is actively involved in creating video media around organic gardening and innovative food production on marginal plots of land. We welcome collaboration and support in this important work.
Wide variety of greens, vegetables, fruits, berries and beans.
